A scented garden for the blind

A scented garden for the blind
The inclusive school garden is inaugurated in Leipzig

From 24 to 28 June 2019, a special week took place at the Vocational Training Centre 12.

There were no lessons this week.

The pupils worked on projects.

The week showed a great result:

Disabled pupils built two containers for plants.

These pupils prepare for their future work during the last year at school.

Teachers and a specialist for inclusive teaching assisted them.

The two plant containers stand for two schools that work together.

One school is the Vocational Training Centre 12 in Leipzig.

The other school is the German Church School in Addis Ababa.

Both schools will have a school garden.

Persons with disabilities can easily reach and understand the plants.

The pupils prepared themselves well for the project.

They visited the botanical garden in Leipzig on 25 June.

They also visited the touch-and-smell garden.

The botanical garden gave the pupils plants for the inclusive school garden.

The pupils made small signs.

You will find the plant names in German, Amharic and Braille on them.

The German Church School in Addis Ababa also works on the school garden.

The botanical garden in Addis Ababa helps them.

The school garden will also be finished this year.
