In early February, 170 children met for a holiday activity in Addis Ababa. The holiday activity is called ‚City within the City‘. Children and adult helpers with and without disabilities took part in the activity.

They met in the park of two vocational schools. These schools are called Entoto Polytechnic College and Tegbaret College.

The holiday activity has been existing in Leipzig for a long time. The cultural centre called ‚Haus Steinstraße‘ has organized the activity many times. Can the activity in Addis Ababa be a success as well? Ulrike Bernard was happy at the end of the holiday activity. She is the manager of the ‚Haus Steinstraße‘ cultural centre. She said, „The holiday activity was also a success in Addis Ababa. Because the needs of people are the same everywhere.“

170 children took part in the event. Numerous adult helpers were also there. 120 children came to Entoto College. There were 50 children at Tegbared College. They worked at different stations: They weaved, embroidered, and worked with wood, paper, cardboard and plastic waste. Several schools want to carry out the activity themselves in the future. New contacts were made between the Ethiopian partners. The experts from Leipzig were also able to learn many new things.

Katja Roloff led their group. She works in the ‘Office for International Affairs’ in the city of Leipzig. The participants were:
